Frank Gehry.
Frank Gehry is one of the biggest names in Architecture today, with a number of his building’s becoming world renowned attractions. Vanity Fair has labelled him the ‘most important architect of our age’, responsible for works including the titanium-clad Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown LA.
Gehry designed one of Arzu's rugs, sold on Ishkar's website - 'Puzz'.
Our process for developing the rug graphic was similar to how we approach architecture. We began by looking at our sculptural studies for a pop-up store that was composed of large curved puzzle pieces. The challenge was how to translate a three-dimensional object into a two-dimensional graphic. Through a series of back and forth investigations, we refined the two-dimensional graphics based upon the constraints of traditional rug-making while still maintaining the dynamism of the three-dimensional objects.
